Mastitis

Mastitis: Infections of the female breast are quite rare, apart from during the post-partum period. They may occur as a result of an adjacent skin infection or as part of an underlying breast abnormality. Acute infections should be treated with appropriate antibiotic therapy in addition to potential drainage of any infected collections. Breast imaging should be performed to rule out any abnormal underlying cause.
